Tony Stephenson outplays Jonathan Dolan to claim Men’s Singles title at Connacht Open 2012
Ireland’s emerging player Tony Stephenson proved his mettle on court and won the Men’s Singles title after defeating his top seeded country-mate Jonathan Dolan in the final showdown at the Connacht Open 2012 at Sligo, Ireland, on Sunday, October 7.
The in-form Stephenson, who was number two seed in Men’s Singles draw, stretched his winning streak in the event and remained successful in beating his higher ranked challenger in a convincing way.
Stephenson was in remarkable form on the final day of the tournament as he showed a wonderful performance on court and easily overpowered Jonathan in straight games with a reasonable margin on score board.
On the other hand, the top seeded Jonathan failed to live up to the expectations as he could not put up strong show against Stephenson and lost the match in just 34 minutes without even taking it to rubber games.
