Tony Stephenson stamps his mark over Sam Van Den Broeck in European Club Championships
Ireland’s Tony Stephenson found a fabulous start when he stamped his mark over Sam Van Den Broeck of Belgium in an amazing fashion at the European Club Championships 2012 on Tuesday, May 29, in Hungary.
The talented Stephenson showed his impressive craft in the court while playing against his Belgian opponent and registered a comprehensive victory over him in a lopsided competition.
Stephenson was on a different level in the court as his incredible speed left no choice for his rival to survive in the court and he managed to wrap up victory in just 20 minutes by ending the contest in straight games.
On the other hand, Broeck was completely helpless against the power play of his Irish opponent and lost the battle in straight games without showing his skills in the court.
In the opening set of this Men’s Singles clash, Stephenson was the first who set up a tremendous gap on the score board by playing top quality badminton.
The in-form Irish shuttler did not commit mistakes in executing his shots in the right areas and remained in commanding position until the mid-game interval where he was leading the set with a huge margin.
After the break, Broeck tried his best to reduce the deficit but failed to play his normal game and also could not match the pace of rallies.
Stephenson remained calm in the court and he played composed badminton throughout the set and eventually grabbed it with a one-sided 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Broeck tried to play positive badminton in opening rallies but failed to put up strong show as his opponent was in complete control of rallies.
Until the interval, the Irish man was leading the set while remaining miles ahead on the board.
After the interval, Stephenson continued putting up superb show of flawless badminton. He did not drop the pace of rallies and remained successful in grabbing the set with a thrashing margin of 21-7.
Stephenson won this Men’s Singles battle in just 20 minutes with a fabulous 21-10 and 21-7 margin on the score board.
