  1. david g-24 RULES !!!!! said it. Tony won't be around that long.

  2. He may not even reach number 3 if he doesn't start winning some races

  3. IDk maybe...I'm hoping Jeff gets there first tho :)

  4. I'm a big time Tony Stewart fan, but I'll have to say no.  The level of competition is so great now, plus if he does leave a major team like Joe Gibbs, his chances are even less.

  5. well all depends on when tony retires from nascar.....i dont picture him being in nascar for more than about 5 more years.... even if he stays at 2 championship he will always be number one in my book   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. No Smoke won't stick around that long !

  7. Nope not going to happen.  Smoke won't be around long enough to make it to 7.  If he gets out of the Toyota he may get 1 or 2 more.

  8. I hope not.

  9. I hope he can I don't want Jeff to

  10. Last season he said he was going to retire as soon as he had the money. How long that will take who knows. But that makes it seem like it's not going to be a life time gig. So he could if he stayes in for more than a few more years.

  11. I think he's been getting into too many wrecks and having too much bad luck. With his patience with NASCAR I think he would retire before he got there.

  12. No...He won't be around that long imo. He's 37 so he'll need to pull off about 2 or 3 in a row.

  13. not 7. maybe 3. but defiantly not 7

  14. I would love to see him do that but I just don't see it happening! 3 or 4 maybe but not 7

  15. He'd have to go on one bada$$ tear.  Don't think it's likely to happen.  Jimmie still has one or two more to win, Carl will likely win one in the near future, Jr will get one, Scrub will get one...I just don't see Tony sticking around long enough.

  16. at the rate he has won cup championships so far, it took him 8 years to win 2, so in 18 more years or so he should have 'em. unless of course, as someone suggested, you count his other major championships, like the IRL championship in 1997.  then he'd have three down, four to go.  and he could win some as an owner, would that count for you?  your question just says retires, it doesn't specify from being a driver, from racing altogether, from what?

  17. Before he retires or dies from his own idiotic, aggressive driving?

Two is TWO TOO many for him!

    GOOOOOOOOOOOO J Gordon!

  18. No way will he win 7

  19. Yes, but they all won't be in Nascar!

  20. I don't really think so.  I think he will get a few more but not 7 that is hard to achieve.

  21. No. The competition is way too tough.

  22. Not a chance. If Gordon has been racing longer than Tony, and HE still doesn't have 7, then Tony can forget about that goal.

There are just too many young drivers out there with as much or more talent than Smoke. Winning a NASCAR title is harder than ever before.

  23. YES

  24. uh..probably not.

    He's a pretty good driver,

but he probably won't be racing long enough to get even a few more championships.

  25. I think he could if he stays around. I am going to say "YES".

  26. The NASCAR you see today is nothing like the NASCAR of the past.  You used to be able to bring anything you wanted to the track and the fastest car would win.  Nowadays NASCAR rules make all the cars virtually the same so no one has a distinct advantage, except maybe Kyle.  There is no way that drivers such as Petty or Earnhardt would ever be able to amass the wins and championships they have had they raced in the sport like it is now.  Ray Evernham single-handily changed NASCAR while he was the crew chief for Jeff Gordon into what you see on the track today.  Once everyone caught up to Ray not even Jeff can win the way he used to.

  27. No, he gets rolling too late with wins and consistent top 5, top 10 finishes to be a consistent championship contender. True the chase may make it easier to just put together a good run at the end, like we saw Jimmie put together to beat Jeff who had dominated most of the regular season, but Jimmie also had a stellar performance in the regular season to have momentum leading into the chase.

Without that momentum and confidence that you can get the job done, can fight for the win every week, its hard to win or even contend for the championship.

Plus yeh, if he leaves Gibbs like the rumours say, he wont be in as competitive equipment and wont be able to contend as often, if at all.

  28. not in nascar  maybe if you add all his different one together

  29. I say you never put anything past smoke and don't bet against him!! Put him back in a Chevy and let's see what happens!!!

  30. Not a chance.  Nobody will ever do that again, especially since they went to the chase format.  Tony will go down as one of the best drivers ever but he will be fortunate to win one or 2 more championships.  He is not going to drive in the cup series that much longer, in my opinion.  I'd give him 5 or 6 years more at the most.  He wants to try Indy cars again and he has all his dirt tracks to manage.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  31. He may not even race in nascar for 5 more years let alone win 5 more championships!  So.....I'm going with No.
