Question:

Too Big/Heavy for pony?

Im looking to buy this pony she is 3 feet tall, maybe a little less or more, about 12 years old, dont know what breed though. Im about 105 pounds, 5'0 tall. Am I too big/heavy for her???

A 36 inch pony is going to be too small for you to ride.  It might make a great driving pony for you tho.  But, while Shetlands are very hardy and you could manage pretty well with one that's 40+ inches I think you'd be happier with something a bit taller unless you want to drive.  And if you're only 12 you're going to continue to grow.  The pony won't.

  3. it depends alot on the breed. Shetland ponys are incredibly strong and i have riden a 3 foot one and i weigh 130 lbs. but other breeds arent quite that strong usually. you only weigh 100bls roughly so i think you would be just fine, i have ridden other pony breeds also (and im talkinh hard riding not just toodling around) and they have been just fine. Make sur ethough that it is physically fit before you ride it to hard. First do short rides to get a feel for what it can do now. Also what could help is find out who rode it previously, they may be the same size as you or even bigger. Good Luck
