Too Late For Mixed Martial Arts?

Am I too old to start mma? Im 16 years old and I'm a really big fan of UFC. Some day I wanna get into UFC. That is my dream. I was just too worried if im too old to start because a lot of mixed martial artists start when there like 4 or 5. are there any UFC fighters that you know of that started at a late age? Besides Randy Couture. I don't really have any experience but i took boxing for like a month. I guess that doesn't really count. This summer I'm going to be training my butt off. Just that question keeps on popping in my head.(am i too old?)

  1. dude you dont to much about mma.because if you did you wouldnt ask a crazy question..the answer is its never to late

  2. phil..pho is right.

  3. not another one of these Am I too old questions.....You're 16 years old.  Do us all a favor here and once you actually start training and realize how hard it is, come back with some legitimate training-related questions and we'll be more than happy to help.

  4. Considering there are 40 somethings doing it, I'd say you are just fine.

  5. B.J. Penn did not start training until he was 17. and he is the UFC lightweight champ. So I would have to say no, you are not to old as long as you are dedicated.

  6. Your never too old to begin training in MMA.

Providing you are dedicated and you get into a good routine of training, resting and eating right it's never too late.

Find a good MMA school if you can't take up a Muay Thai or Kickboxing class and a Wrestling or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class. Get into shape physically and cardiovacularly and you will be well on your way.

    Good Luck.

  7. It's never to late, It's up to you.  It depends on how bad you want it.  When you six feet under, then it's too late.  Time waits on No One my friend!  It's going to be a tough road as Life is.  I started Riding Bulls at 27 and stopped at 36.  I stopped because I lost the desire not cause of my age.  I am working out, to give it one more try.  The bad thing is now that I am older my body doesn't heal as fast as it used to.  My brother still Rodeo's and he is 41.  He stopped riding Bulls, due to a bad wreck that cost him about $3,000 in surgery.  (Comes with the Game)  But he still rides Bareback and Saddle-Bronc.  Be a "Has-Been!",  Not a "Never-Was!"  Example:  "Has-Been" a UFC Fighter! vs "Never-Was" a UFC Fighter!  Good luck on your Journey and God Bless!

P.S. When you make it, how about sending some Tickets my way!
