Question:

Too Much Material; What do we do?

by  |  earlier

My mother loves sewing anything from cushions to table runners, to baby bags, bed sheets etc. She has done craft shows in the past and will be doing more soon. She is trying to get rid of some of the material as well as the pre-made goods. Any suggestions on how to sell this material, or donate it?

  1. Ebay

    Garage Sale/Sale

Find a drive of some sort, maybe to Nicaragua or Haiti, and donate the goods an materials there. The Salvation Army  would help with that, or many other churches or places that would do that.

The reason I suggest the salvation army is for a few reasons. For one, if you donate money there, they give away it all ( that or they take a very small portion )), where most places will keep a large percentage of the donations. i know you are donating fabrics and goods, which they could probably ship out, or sell from their thrift stores...........if you are wanting to donate it i think it'd be a good place to start.

i don't know what sort of places are local to you so it is a bit harder to know what to suggest. Some churches and other places like such, have Christmas drives. You could donate fabric and made goods there.

If you wish to sell, try Value Village or other thrift stores with the same idea.

Good Luck and Have a great day!

  2. Try selling it on ebay

  3. I agree, Ebay is a great way to sell it. I would section it up into sizable bits tho'. Also, list the cottons in the Quilt Section if possible.

Donating is easy enough if you are trying to just clean it out.

Contact your local Churches for Quilting groups. Call the Schools in your area and donate the scraps there for school projects. And Garage Sales work too.....if you advertise in the paper for that and add sewing fabric for sale..

  4. ~eBay

    ~Garage Sale

    ~Farmers Market

    ~Drives

and alot of other things you could sell them at

  5. Setting up a booth at a flea market would be a great way to sell the fabric and pre-made goods!!  That way, you don't have to mess with setting up a bunch of auctions, mess with mailing everything, etc.

  6. Hi:

Like the other answers said: sell it on ebay or have a yard/garage sell or denate to a craft club. Also scan and store it on a DVD or CD  So you will have a copy of it . So if you want to do a project ;you will have a copy of it and you won't have to wish you had  it  or buy it again for some other seller.  they hold a lot of patterns and books about three books for a CD and Six to seven for a DVD

    I hope this helps
