  1. Hey - I left school at 18 and went to College to train as a teacher.  Failed that, but went on to join the Army, run a nesagency, work in child care, be a civil servant, work for a water company, be a bus driver and have been three years in my current job working in the Church.  I'm in my fifties and I ain't dead yet - if I have to change my job again, well, I'm up for it!

Life is all a learning experience and that never stops until you draw your last gasp, so don't think you're too young or too old to do anything.  As they say, 'Age is a question of mind over matter.  If you don't mind, it don't matter'!

  2. No of course you aren't, life is to short and you have to do wht you want to do when you want to do it, if its something that you want to pursue in life then do it!

  3. No way. Your never to old to learn. There are people who have 3 or 4 degrees meaning they were your age at Uni. And actually there are many Uni's with a large population of mature students such as Warwick Uni.

At least you know what you want.

  4. Oh god don't say that!!! I'm just waiting to start my 2nd year at Uni and i'll be 38 in November!!!! I think i need to lay down in a darkened room...........Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Its great though and there's loads there older than me, you'll be a a spring chicken - go for it!!!

  5. First of all, at 30, you are not too old to do anything!

OK, look at it this way, you probably will be working for the next 30-40 years. I know, that's depressing, but think about the job you are doing now. Do you want to do that for the next four decades, or would you rather pursue a degree in a field of your choice, and have better and more options for jobs later on?

The advantage you have of being a non-traditional age student is your experiences, whatever they have been. Most 17 and 18 year olds going to college have no idea what they want or why they are really there. You do.

    It's in your hands!

Let me know if you need help. I've worked in college admissions in the US, Ireland, Australia and the UK. There are lots of options for you.

  6. no way. when i was at uni there were people in their late 30's and early 40's. you go for it, it is never too late and i take my hat off to you for wanting to take a change. You'll do fine and all the best.  x

  7. I'm 44 and in my second year at uni and love it.  You will find that there are plenty older than you and the maturity you have gained will help alot!  30 is still young.  You will leave with a degree and work experience - something the 20 year olds will not have.  Go for it or you will regret it.  On my course, there is a 65 year old and on another course, an 89 year old doing her second degree - you can never be too old!

  8. Don't be silly.

I didn't start my degree until I was in my mid 30's.

Do what you want when you want to do it.

  9. nonono!!

go for it :) 30 is NOT old and you are never too old to do something new, if it's something you want to do then you should definitely go for it, or you may be wondering "what if" forever and regret it

    good luck :)

and i know someone who went to college when she was almost 50 :)

  10. No, you are not too old.  Many people change careers at a much later age than 30.  Besides there are always some "transferable  skills" that you can take with you to your new career, so you're not just starting from scratch.

I think I would have learned a lot more from my degree if I'd done it at 30 rather than starting straight after high school.

  11. well im 31 and will be starting a degree, i feel a bit nervous about it too

  12. yep you're too old for that ****. but you'll never be too old to die so just forget about it! do what you want fool, it's your decision but i think you'll regret if you try university

  13. never too old. especially not at 30.. You want it you go for it.

  14. There's someone on my course who's 33. Don't worry about age just go for it.

  15. You are never too old to get an education. Do it now, otherwise you'll be asking "Is 40 to old for university?" in 10 years.
