Too close to Christmas??

My fiance & I are thinking about getting married December 27, but were worried that might be too close to Christmas. And we would move it but we've got so much going on with school, etc...so this is pretty much the only date we could have it. How would you feel about going to a wedding that close to Christmas??

  1. This is crazy! My fiance and I are thinking about getting married on December 27th also. We are also very busy with life. I am in school and this is my only really good time for a wedding and a honeymoon in Hawaii. I just thought I had to tell you that. By the way....Are you having a big wedding or small?

  2. i'm getting married on dec. 20th so do it girl!!! :)

  3. just sned out save the date cards once you get a place booked so people know!

  4. I got married on Dec. 16th. Some people couldn't come because they have family Christmas parties way before Christmas to avoid more stress and having too many things to do.

Although I don't see anything wrong with the date, be prepared for some people not to come because they have family obligations, work parties, etc that they have commited to.

I would also suggest sending out save the dates early so that people know as soon as possible when your wedding is so they can avoid making other plans on that day.

    Congrats!

  5. If it's a church wedding check with the church, some might not marry you in the middle of Christmas like that. I'd say I'd go for a close friend or family member, but a small wedding might be appropriate, because far-flung relatives and friends aren't going to want to come in the middle of Christmas. It depends on your family and his. My family often celebrates for several days around the 25th, just to make sure that everyone can make it.

  6. It might seem like its the only time possible, but i would highly recommend a month in the summer/fall. Depending on where you live, December might not be fun when you decide to go out for dinner on your anniversery in a snowstorm.

  7. Speaking strictly as a guest...I would be a little annoyed but would still go (as long as it is a local wedding).  If I have to travel, then absolutely not.

Consider your OOT guests.  Airline and hotel fares during that time will be incredibly expensive.

  8. I probably would not attend a wedding that close to Christmas unless it was my sibling.  Lots of people celebrate Christmas with their extended families right before or right after Christmas day so lots of people may have plans.  I would suggest a summer wedding if you're still in school.

  9. I've been to a wedding on December 29 and December 23. I loved both of them.

  10. It wouldn't bother me.People have to understand you'lls situation with school. One Christmas weekend, not hanging out with family long enough, once in a blue moon isn't going to hurt them.My cousin got married on the 22nd last year and everyone went to her wedding and understood that was the only week they could have it.Fiance is in the military.

  11. dont no much about weddings but thats got to be an amazing week getting married Christmas plus whatever parties going on because of your wedding or Christmas. must be a special week.

best of luck to you both though

  12. My mom and dad got married on Dec. 28Th.  The hustle and bustle of Christmas would be over by then and what a nice way to see family and friends that you wouldn't normally see over the holidays.  Stick to your plan!

  13. It is your decision ; I hope the weather is good.

All weddings are beautiful and it is the meaning behind them; the only other answer is wait until you graduate or spring break.

  14. i think it would be cool but i dont know if a  lot of ppl would come to it since it so close but its after chrismas so u dont have to worry!!!!

  15. I think it's a great time to have a themed wedding! If you're marrying at a church, it's already decorated!!! And centerpieces could be poinsettias. Don't change it! It's actually better on your pocket when most of the decorating is christmasy!!! Good luck!
