Question:

Too early for my hair to gray?

My dad told me his hair started graying at about age 14, but my mom is 40 and her hair still hasn't grayed.

But about 10 months ago I found a gray hair (and I'm 14)! Unfortunately I found another one today (nothing in between the 10 months).

I was stressed with heavy classes last time I found a gray hair, but now I am fine...does this have to do with stress? What can the cause be? Is it genetics?

What can I do to avoid it?

P.S. I have never dyed my hair, but I flat-iron it once a week.

  1. yes it does have to do with stress, but do not puck it out otherwise double grays will come out

  2. You can't fight your genes.  There are plenty of people who go grey quite early on in their lives.  Grey can look quite sophisticated and special.  It doesn't mean that you will lose your hair early.

  3. One of my best guy friends other friends is 16, and her hair is naturally silver-gray.

I honestly think it looks awesome, he thinks so too.

  4. it has nothing to do with the flat iron so dont worry about that.  and yeah i've had a lot of friends who have found gray hairs on themselves when we were in high school so it's not uncommon.  i found a couple on myself a few months ago and i'm 20.  it does have a lot to do with genetics, but stress plays a role in it to.  just try not to worry about it.

  5. well, you can't control the color your hair grows in. i don't beleive you can prevent gray.

since it bothers you, i would dye it. dyed hair looks pretty good when you go to a nice salon. it usually comes out looking shinier and richer than virgin hair, even if you choose a color that's close to your natural color.

  6. The hair will turn white when it wants to, and you cannot prevent it.  It is all genetics.  Most people have a few white hairs by the time they are 30, even if you can't see them.

Sometimes stress can affect how soon the white shows up, but most times, it works according to its own schedule.  Don't worry about it.

There would be no need to colour it.  That is the way you are, and it can look very nice, very unique.  Not everyone can be plain, ordinary, boring!

  7. There is no real known study that I am aware of, but most say genetics. If they bug you really bad. Try having your hair colored with Matrix Color Sync. It is a non evasive color and non commitment color. It fades naturally with no out growth line. No ammonia, no peroxide. It will make your hair shinny and cover your gray. Just stay with your Natural color and you will be fine. GOOD LUCK!
