Too early to be called a hero by the fans, says Luis Suarez - http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC News
Liverpool striker, Luis Suarez, believes it’s too early for him to be called a hero by the club fans. He said that he is very happy with his new club and was thankful to the fans for the tremendous support they have offered him.
Luis Suarez joined Liverpool from Ajax Amsterdam for an estimated fee of 23 million pounds in the January transfer window this year. The Uruguayan has made an immediate impact, scoring two sensational goals in a total of five appearances for his new club.
The striker has pulled some match winning performances already and has become an idol for the fans.
The former Ajax striker was all praise for the Liverpool fans and claimed they play a huge role in taking the club forward. He thanked the supporters for chanting his name and hoped to carry on with the good performances.
“I think the fans at this club play a major role, bigger than at some other clubs. Although I might not understand what exactly they are singing, I know my name is mentioned. That's important to me,” the striker was quoted as saying.
Suarez said that he is delighted with the excellent support he has received from the fans as he has been with the Reds for only over a month. He added that it was his aim to make a difference for his new club, and the response from the fans shows that he
has been able to make a mark.
"I've only been here a month-and-a-half and it's good to see the fans are happy. I came here to work hard for the team and to do my absolute best. If they are singing my name maybe it shows I'm doing my job well. But there are a lot of games and there is
a lot of time to go before I am a real hero. It's too early for that,” said the Uruguayan.
Liverpool currently occupy sixth place on the Barclays Premier League table with a total of 45 points. The Reds will play West Bromwich Albion in the next fixture at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
