Question:

Too early to test???

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out.

I take the pill, and have been using it for about 3 months.

A couple of weeks ago, I skipped one pill and then had intercourse with my partner on the 17th August. My period was due on the 26th, and it came that night. (Uncommon for my period to begin at night).

Well, it lasted 3 days and it was brown and stale blood, and VERY light. It stopped on friday, and I did a HPT on saturday.... it come back negative.

Would this be too early to test for pregnancy? I believe my period was implantation bleeding, and that I might be pregnant.

Should I test again in 2 weeks?? Or am I just wishful thinking???

Also, when you are on the pill, should your period last the full 5 days or is it common for it to only last 3? Sorry to seem so vague but I have never used the pill before and I am used to having periods that last 10 days and with a very heavy flow.

  1. Your period should be shorter and lighter on the pill. I almost have no period at all with the pill i've been on. It could be too early, if you're still worried, I would test again in a week or so. Read info on the brand of pill you use. Some tell you that after one missed pill just take it as soon as you remember. It doesn't say use back up method after just one missed. Mine says after three missed pills to use a back up method, so you might be worried about nothing.

  2. my experience with the pill (which i hate) is that your period would last the whole 5 days.

maybe you are pregnant.  test again in 3 days.

then again, your body could just be regulating itself to the pill...which makes it think it's pregnant.

  3. it sounds like the light period you just had may be your body getting used to the pill. i think it was an actual period. your cycle can change when u use birth control. (or stop using it) anyway, it is probably too early for a pregnancy test. wait until next month. if u dont get ur period take another test. period length is different for everyone. some pills help periods to be shorter and lighter. check out the website of the one you take.

you are not actually have a regular period (as you are when you are not on birth control.) it's different now. so it makes sense that your periods will be different.
