So,ive danced my whole life and played the violin since i was in 4th grade. Ive always wanted to be on my high schools dance team since i was little and my cousin was in it and i would watch her on the field and in competitions. So I made it. And my parents didn't' seem to think i would have a problem keeping up with dancing and playing my violin. So the studio i go to is a smaller studio and ive been going there for about 3 years now. and they kinda just put me on a competition team really without my approval. But I went along with it, b/c the team right now only has 5 girls and one of them is on the drill team with me too. This team is only contemporary dance, and a ballet class the studio said i need to take to be in it. so i would only be at the studio on tuesdays 7-8:30 with the contemporary. However, I'm fairly serious about violin and I'm planning to be a music education major. In the past i have been good about manage time in the studio with practice time. and homework time. I'm going to be a sophomore in high school. in 2 pre ap or ap classes. I don't think any of the studios team dance competitions will mess with my violin solo competitions because the violin ones are in the late winter and all of the dance team ones are in the spring. and the studio dance team too. So do you think I could go to drill team practice practice my violin everyday and go to the studio dance team stuff and be good at everything? and not be too terribly overwhelmed. oh and the drill team practices till about 5 or 5:30 everyday which is only about an hour after our school ends!

thank you for reading!

  1. Perhaps you might want to prioritize what is your hobby and what you plan to be. Seeing that you said you wished to become a music education major, I suggest investing more of your time with your music and consider dancing as a hobby.

But if you do not want to give up on either of them, I recommend you start scheduling your time so you will have the chance to do everything you want to do.

  2. It is obvious that you have some doubts.  If you are the go getter that I see in your question, it is going to be tough and demanding.  The payoff if you can do it all will be a life of artistic skills that will help you to understand the art form that you decide on.

I wish you success and some rest.
