Too much AP classes?

im going to be a senior next year and so far im signed up for AP gov't, AP economics, AP lit, and AP physics. so this totals to 5 periods a day (im pretty sure physics is two periods every day, it mite be every other day tho)

and im taking regular math (pre-calc), spanish, intro to business, gym, and health (im required to take health and gym to graduate). these classes equal to 4 periods everyday... making it a full schedule next year with NO FREE PERIODS!! i had no free periods my junior year either.

i aced regular chemistry (no honors or AP) junior year and im prob going to major chem in college. ive been thinking about taking AP chem next year. MAYBE. and if i do ill have to drop 2 of my regular classes.

is this too much of a workload, 4 APs already and possibly AP chem added on it? i definitely wont be allowed to have senioritis right? haha lol. how is the workload in these classes? im ready for it tho.

  1. AP classes arent that much different than any other class honestly. And neither are IB classes, they are both weighted the same in the eyes of a college. I took 5 AP's junior year and intend on taking AP calc BC, AP Lit, AP gov't, and AP statistics this year. (I'd take Ap economics, but the school doesn't offer it )

  2. I just took 4 APs as a Junior.  It's not that bad.  However, with that many APs, it's a good idea to free up at least one Free Period somehow.

(I took AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP US History, AP English Lit).

I'm taking 6 next year (English Language, Latin Literature, US Government, Chem, Physics C, Music Theory), as well as a college math course (Multivariable Calculus).

Not for the faint of heart, but managable.

  3. I definitely think that it is do-able. Junior year I took 6 IB classes (harder than AP), 1 AP, and Orchestra. Next year, I'm taking 7 IB and 1 AP (Calculus BC) with no free period. And trust me, I'm not that smart. And so very lazy : ) So I definitely think that you can do it, if you really put an effort into your school work (but don't forget about other things that are important to you). Anyways, it will help you trememdously in getting into college. Good luck!
