I'm staying at a hotel with my step dad and siblings. I went swimming for like 5 hours in a pool that I could tell had way too much chlorine when I first got in it. Afterwards my eyes were burning so bad i couldnt open them and tears were coming out even though I wasnt "crying". Its been like 6 hours since I got out of the pool and my eyes still burn a little and I cant see very well. My eyesight is really blurry especially around light. I cant see very well at all. I'm 16 and my step dad doesnt know or care.

So please help me. I got no money for eyedrops and he wont buy me any. What else should I do to help my eyes. I serously cant see very well. It hurts too. Will it go away? Thanks to those who help. I'm kinda freaking out. I havnt seen so blurry since my eye surgery when I was little(like 8).

  1. run your eyes under cold water from a faucet, then kepp ur eyes closed for a while. maybe take a nap. and wear sunglasses when going outside to avoid irritation.

and get a new step dad....

  2. thanks for making my eyes water...

try using a cold wash cloth or just run off to find a doctor's place. you might be able to just pay with insurance. to find it, you might be able to ask a worker at a store nearby or at the casheirre at your hotel. good luck!

    sorry if that doesn't help.

  3. The pool was low on chlorine, likely.  Chloramines are the problem and caused by too much organic matter and too little chlorine.  This creates chloramine and smell and sting and burn the mucus membranes, eyes, throat and such.

Pool needs to be closed and super chlorinated which burns off the combined chlorine leaving blue and sparkling water.

6 hours is a long time for this condition which I have had and disappeared in several hours.  There is a possibility that your corneas were etched if so see an ophthalmologist not a lot they can do but wait a couple of days then examine you again.

Not rubbing your irritated eyes would likely help too.

    You're welcome!!
