Too much powder in Similac bottles?

What happens when you put too much similac in a bottle? I think my daycare hasnt been following the "unpacked scoop" rule, and are just doing the full scoop. What exactly is an unpacked scoop anyway (can anyone give me a visual estimate)?

  1. if you think there may be a problem with the way they mix the formula then maybe you can sent premade bottles..they should have a fridge.. and also a microwave..if you don't want the bottle warmed in the microwave then they can warm a cup of water to set the bottle in.. i send my son to daycare..he is 5m 3w old and they are not allowed by the health department to make bottle for any of the children.. we have to send them premade

  2. Nothing really, it just gets thicker.

An unpacked scoop is just when you scoop it out and pour it in the bottle, done shake it down to get more in it, and don't level it out... does that make any sense?

  3. unpacked scoop means, when you scoop the powder from the box, you have to shave the excessive powder out. Level it to the scoop.

  4. You should always followed the correct amount per ounces of water (that is clearly listed on the back of every formula can). Making up a bottle with too much powder can give your baby constipation and can cause your baby to become dehydrated, while too little powder may not provide your baby with sufficient nourishment.

An unpacked scoop is basically you just scooping formula, and not tapping it against anything to pack it down. you just want to use the scoop and scoop up formula. shake off the excess off the top. Make sure you follow the guidelines to the correct amount of formula per ounce of water (and always use the scoop that comes with the can of formula)

    2 ounces - 1 scoop

    3 ounces - 1 1/2 scoops

    4 ounces - 2 scoops

    5 ounces - 2 1/2 scoops

    6 ounces - 3 scoops

    7 ounces - 3 1/2 scoops

    8 ounces - 4 scoops

  5. When I used to mix it, I would scoop it and hit in on the side of the can a couple times. That will fill up any empty spots in the scoop. From there you can determine whether you need more or not.

A little bit extra wouldn't hurt your baby (if they gave her a packed scoop) but if they are over doing it too much your baby would probably become constipated or get a sore belly.

  6. A unpacked scoop is when the powder fills the scoop but is still powdery. If you shake the scoop a little, the powder should move.

If there is too much formula, it can cause gas, stomach upset and constipation.

Just send premixed formula in the bottles and that way they just have o give him the bottle. Make sure his name is on the bottles
