My 9 year old son was having some problems with soreness in his back the last week. I took him into a sport injury clinic thinking it was due to football. The day before taking him in he had the hiccups which had him knelt on the floor with one hand on his tummy and the other on his back. I didn't think this was good at all. They did an x-ray and let me know that his lower two disks in his back have too much spacing between them. He didn't say how much was too much. The doctor wasn't sure if this was due to an injury or if this is the way my son is built. I guess never having an x-ray in this area before would be hard to determine. He has to go back in a week for follow up and not allowed to do any contact sports. My question is has anyone ever experienced this and what was the outcome? Any ideas other than pain medications, rest, heat or ice that have worked. These are working but for short periods of time. Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't see a date on here, so I am not sure when you posted this. But yes, you can have that. I actually got diagnosed with the same thing. To much spacing between L4 and L5 allowing for muscle spasms to get stuck in the spacing causing pain. Mine was due to a lifting injury, where I pulled my back. The best thing I found was anti-inflammatories work best.
