Is it okay to have more than two installed on your computer? I was just wondering, since I got AVG anti-virus and I already had Symantic Anti-virus installed. Should I install both of them on the same computer?

  1. Both are not better than Avast.

    Avast Home Edition version 4.8 is an effective anti-virus program.

    You MUST do a boot time scan in safe mode in order remove every single virus on your PC.

    Even those viruses that hide inside the system restore folder.

  2. You can only run one antivirus on any computer or you will have serious conflict with your system.   You can run four or even five antispyware if you have the resources without any conflict.

    You must decide which one has to go.  Symantic products are eat up a lot of your resources.

  3. It is not recommended that you run two antivirus programs on the same computer (especially symantic with another program) I would just recommend you use the avg.

  5. Using two antivirus programs often results in 'loops', which slow down your computer A LOT.

    I also recommend going with only AVG.

    ++EDIT:

    AVG is less intrusive, and free. So I find it the better of the two.

  6. You don't need 2 of them.  In fact, 2 is bad, because they conflict with each other.

    You should run a complete anti-virus scan, first.  Then you should run a spyware scan.  You can get spyware software from download.com.  I recommend Ad-Aware or Spybot Search & Destroy.
