well, just a thought. im 15 almost 16 and im considering doing swimming my sohpomore year. Ive taken lessons before when i was in elementary but thats it.

My ultimate dream is to go to the olympics(its a dream cause i would start training just this year and i have low endurance and im not very athletic.)

I know women who go to the olympics start training when they are only like 7 and 8 but im starting at 15 and im wondering if I would be able to do it.

I would do my school's swim team and a club team but again, i am 15 and if i want to make it to the olympics i only have 4-8 years to train.

its just a thought i had, but any input, ideas, or commments are welcome. thankss=)

  1. i say go for it and the oldest swimmer to go to the olympics is 41 so you are never to old

  2. It is highly unlikely. You need to be in the top 1% of all swimmers in the united states alone just to get into the olympics and starting this late doesn't give you enough time to really build the proper muscle and technique to make it. I would encourage you to try but do not be terribly upset in a few years if you do not make it.

  3. nothing is impossible so give it a try...maybe no one has done it before but there is always a first . just work your a.ss off!

  4. Impossible, please be more realistic with your goals.  I would try to focus your energy and your determination toward something more realistic and practical. If you are going to swim, try to have fun and don't go in with such ridiculous expectations.

  5. Nice spirit. I think you are never too old to try, Don't give up, I will see you on T.V in a few years for the olympics!
