Question:

Too old to pick up gymnastics again?

I stopped doing gymnastics because I wasn't being supervised by my coaches as they were only coaching the level 5s and 6s (I was level 4) and my parents didn't want me continue without being spotted. I stopped when I was 12.5 and now I am 15

I can still do some tricks, eg. front and backward walkovers, cartwheels, handstands, round-offs, etc. Quite similar to when I quit, except now I can't do a side aerial or the splits as far.

I really love it and I want to get back into it.

Would my flexibility/strength be gone?

Am I too old to pick it up again (I'm 15)?

I love it so much! :)

  1. It depends on where u r in life (changing). I think you should b fine, me being a gymnastics girl (im 12) i think u should b fine. I have a 16 yr old in my group, so id say go 4 it!!!

Even if ur flexibility is gone, u can work hard to get it back up again.

  2. Of course you are not too old!  That only happens when you are dead.  Everybody should do gymnastics.  It shouldn't be something just for kids and professionals; that's what is wrong with Americans.  Your coaches might tell you that if you can't commit your life to being the best then don't bother, but that is pretty short sighted.  There is a growing market for people who just want to be in shape they could cash in on.

  3. You're not too old at all.  My brother has done gymanstics for years and he didn't start till he was in high school.

  4. I love watching girl gymnasts in action :)

No kidding, you're not like 25. Start it all over again.
