Question:

Too small piercing jewelry?

I recently got a Medusa piercing (Recently meaning yesterday). Unfortunately, I under compensated the jewelry. I'm finding it hard to determine whether or not the discomfort is from the too small jewelry or that it's a fresh piercing.

It's a regular size labret ring. I have a second labret shaft that's a little under an inch. Should I go ahead and risk changing the jewelry or wait it out?

  1. wait it out. the reason it feels to small is because your skin is swelling against the new foriegn object under your skin....its perfectly normal but if it starts to get buried in you flesh you will need to go back to the piercer and ask THEM to change it to one with a larger post...DONT change it yourself...that could easily result in infection, and maybe the removal of your piercing.....if you must have jewelry change before the healing period of 3-4 is over, then please go to a profesional...

  2. If it's a fresh piercing, you shouldnt change it so quick. The jewerlly shouldnt be removed for around 2 months.

  3. i'd say wait it out of for a while long to see what it's like when the swelling relaxes a little bit. Taking it out right now is gonna hurt like a mother and make you want to take a swing at someone. (had to change out her labret two days after getting it done and almost bit the hand of the person taking the stud out for her). Take an antiinflamitory and wait a bit. If you have some play in the length of the jewelery right now you should be fine.

    good luck.
