  1. yeah totally. im not naturally flexible but if you try to stretch at least once a day you will get much better trust me. also taking dance classes you'll improve...you shouldn't wait until you think you're good to take classes, that's WHY people take classes. the more you work at it, the less stiff you'll be.

  2. stretch out every night, doing a yoga class can clear your legs and arms of stiffness, after a few weeks of yoga- take a beginning dance class, Stretching yourself out every day will help out alot :) just practice, and learn your stuff, and you'll improve, try steping and dancing to the beat when you do stuff, it can improve :)

  3. basically all you have to do is be into the dance.

dont dance just to dance, dance because you love it.

  4. Well, you can try to be loose. I dont know what I'm talking about but try not to be so rigid.

  5. do some stretches everyday to increase your flexibility

  6. if you join a dance class, the teacher will give you tips on how to be more flexible.  I started dancing late and was stiff like you wouldn't believe, but now I can do the splits without any pain.  It depends what style of dance you take up as to how much flexibility you will need.

  7. Well first off you can always slow dance it is just moving back and forth and in slow circle while you are swaying to the music.then I have seen somewhere these guys that make videos on how to dance the newer dancesi think they double as work out videos. Some of them loooked like alot of fun.You could stick to the slow dances until you get something down pat.

  8. heyy... just understand one thing.. that every d**n person in this world can groove to music........but everyone is too lazy to bring their flexibility out......  try this out.. it will help yu.... just put on some music every night before going to sleep or when yu are in shower.. and just move yur body to the beats of the music.. don bother if yu are perfect or not.. just sway yur body however yu want.. just do this evrday night.... and see how yu improve in yur flexbility.... and heyy.. just be confident and optimistic in life.. rather than under estimating yurself... good luck.. happy dancin.... hope my tip helps yu....

  9. You can definetly dance because you can move. You need to get use to moving. That will happen little by little. When you get up each morning you need to do five to ten minutes of movement and stretching. You also need to look for a dance studio where you want to take a dance class at and what style of dance you would like to take. I do not think you are "too stiff for dancing". You need to get up and move. I hope that I helped you out a little.

  10. Try some yoga, stretching and meditating. After that, look for some dvd's about dancing, watch some of those to get motivated. An old one that is good is called: "Footloose" another one is "Dance with me" and "Salsa"... Next, you could try some step aerobics that uses the kind of music you like, like swing or salsa. If you do all of this, you might be sore for a couple of days, but you definitely will loosen up. Keep stretching and keep listening to music.

  11. hmm... i think you're too concious about your body that's why you're stiff... you think too much about how your body moves and such. i suggest to relax.. feel the music.. and just go along the beat.. that should help... but if you want to take it to another level, i suggest to go on youtube first, and see what kind of dance you are interested in. once you've chosen one, then go and start practicing... :)

  12. The only thing I can say is you have to keep at stretching. Many people expect results so quickly and it just doesn't work that way. It takes a lot of dedication to practice. But at the same time remember dance is supposed to be fun. Put the hard work in but also let yourself enjoy it.

  13. Do some stretches if you want to get less stiff. And remember, start small, you don't have to be super limber to dance. And if you take some dancing classes they don't expect you to be limber either. It's all about how badly you want to dance.

  14. Ask a friend for help or maybe ask a dancer for help.

  15. wow you got a ton of answers hahah. but ill share my little experience. when i started dancing, i was stiff too. i was too shy to really get into my dancing and i was afraid of looking stupid. but after many many dance classes i started getting more comfortable with myself. dancing really boosts your self esteem and will definitely loosen you up. flexibility and being a comfortable dancer doesnt come over night but just be determined and it will come trust me :)

  16. you should definantly consider taking a dancing class. that would really help lossen you up. you could also stretch when you have a few minuts.

  17. In my opinion, don't worry about being "too stiff".  I say that you should start taking classes.  It won't matter your flexibility at first, if you start then each class you will work and become more flexible each time.  Also if you want to get a head start, you should stretch everyday.  Good luck and have fun!

  18. take yoga or something. this will prepare you for dancing. some of the best dancers out there also take yoga. this will also help you loosen up a bit.

  19. Take up Jazz, it works on ur flex as well as your lines but u would want to stretch before u actually start. It helps me, ive done dancing for 11 years and trust me stretching before class helps you. And with the chores it wont do anything to affect ur flex, you never know it may even help you?

Good luck with working on yur flex

  20. JOIN DANCE CLASSES.

    OR

WATCH VEDIOS OF SOME SONGS HAVING GOOD DANCES AGAIN & AGAIN . U WILL SEE  UR BODY AUTOMATICALLY MOVES TO THAT BEAT IN THE SAME WAY THE DANCER'S BODY.

  21. Whenever you dance, stretch out beforehand. Stretch your body to it's limit, but don't push it, this will slowly get rid of your stiffness, so you can flex more.

Also, listen to the music, and feel it, move your hips a bit, and go crazy. This will allow you to move your body more freely.

The only way you'll lose flexibility is by not stretching or practicing. As long as you're not lazy, you'll be fine.

  22. Doing your chores will help to limber up. Also try some Yoga.

  23. take dance lessons.

you can do exercises at home to enhance your flexibility.

but it'll take weeks to solve your problem.

  24. join a local dance class tehy will teach you how to stretch properly and you can ask teh teacher anything about stretching. you may aalso wann atake up yoga or pilates!

  25. Yoga can help with your flexibility.  Also it will stretch your muscles--help "unstiffen" you--and tone up your body.

So maybe start with some yoga classes to condition your body and then sign up for some beginning dance classes.  Depending on what kind of dancing you want to do (salsa, ballet, ballroom, hip hop, etc.) you might be able to find a private instructor instead of being in a class with a bunch of people.  This may be less intimidating.

If you don't have enough money to pay for lessons/classes you could rent DVDs (or borrow them from your local library) and practice at home.  I used to practice at home by watching music videos and dancing in my room in front of a mirror.  When I started going to clubs with my friends and dancing, I got a lot of compliments on my dancing abilities.  Either way, fulfill your dream and dance! :)

  26. - Just stretch every night, and for dancing make sure you stretch them legs. You don't need to do household chores cuz it doesn't affect your flexibility. For you to be less stiff while DANCING is a different story; number one, you don't need to be flexible to be a good dancer. It's all about the movements and how good you flow with the music! So just loosen up, enjoy the music- enjoy yourself. But at High school dances, i would say, you need your thighs and legs the most. =] work them out!

  27. Everyone is stiff and awkward when beginning a new dance.

    Take lessons and practise!

Dancing is like walking and I'm sure you don't walk like a toddler anymore. You'll be able to do it, the only thing standing between you and your goal is not stiffness but determination.

    good luck & have fun.

  28. OK are you talking about a certain technique? like ballet or jazz or just dancing either way you need to stretch a lot preferably right after a hot bath your muscles will be so relaxed they wont see it coming (trust me it works) if it a bone kind of stiff like when you sleep wrong and you can't turn your neck for days go see a chiropractor! it could be scoliosis and you might need a brace don't worry someone who loves to dance will always find a way you will be less stiff once you start stretching (after a hot bath) you will loosen up trust me!

  29. You just have to go and sign up for a dance class. Start with the basics, depending on what you're interested in, and find a beginner class for your age group. To increase flexibility, all you have to do is stretch and practice. If you don't know any good stretches, check out a video on youtube or a DVD. Good Luck!

  30. Take begining dance classes at a local studio. Styles of dance like ballet and especially lyrical will really help with your stiffness. good luck!

  31. stretch EVERY day
