Question:

Too weird for siblings?

Both my SO and I are of Celtic descent. I'm Irish, and he's Irish and Scottish. So of course I'm very drawn to Gaelic names. And I've became obsessed with three Gaelic boy names. But SO and I /adore/ Rose as a first name for a little girl.

My question is, does this sound weird for siblings?

Lachlann, Séamus, Connolly, and Rose?

  1. no. i dont think soo.

  2. No they're nice, yes Rose stands out but not in a Simon, Michael and Nevaeh kind of way. If you know what I mean, it's a nice name, and looks good with the rest.

  3. Ok so lots of irish/Scottish names for yea!!!

Girls; Erin, Orla, Aoife, Saorise, Ciara (like Kiera), Niamh (pronounced Neave), Sinead and Rose is beautiful!!!

for boys; Lorcan, Conor, Sean (John in Gaelige), Rian (Ryan in Gaelige), Kian ! I will think of some more

  4. This sounds lovely for a Gaelic child.

    TX Mom

  5. I don't think that it sounds weird...although it might to other people because you don't hear Gaelic names over here in the US too much.

But I like the names a lot!

    Hope I helped!

  6. Rose is PERFECT, and it must be an Irish name. My mother's name was Rose, and her Mother Rose was born in Galway Ireland and they haven't even been able to even trace back how many Roses she descended from in the tradition of naming the first daughter Rose. I have tons of cousins named Rose and now some little baby Roses are sprouting. I may be biased, but I think it's a beautiful name and it does go well with the boys names. Congratulations, by the way, to you and your partner!

  7. No, it sounds fine to me. My great-grandmother was from Ireland and her name was Rose.

  8. cool names i like the name rose because in titanic there was a girl named that and well never mind

  9. it wouldnt sound out of place at all . i think rose is a great name.

  10. Nope. I love the name Rose. It's very pretty and feminine. For a boy, I especially like Connolly.

  11. Not at all. They sound beautiful. I especially love Rose and Connolly.

  12. Rose fits in well with a lot of different sibsets because it's so familiar, classic, and lovely, but so seldom heard.

I think Lachlann, Seamus, Connolly, and Rose sound wonderful together.  Additionally, since Rose is a girls' name, it's okay if it has a slightly different feel from your boys' names.

    Good luck!

  13. I like all the names

  14. I don't think so.  In addition, I believe that Rose might be a more common name in Ireland and Scotland even though it is not of Celtic  origin.

  15. Haha. It kind of does sound weird, sorry.

Rose seems a little out of place.

I don't think people will think about it too hard though, they will just comment on how beautiful the name Rose is.

    (:

  16. I really like all of the names. I don't think they sound weird at all.

  17. ...why not use the Irish cognate (a cognate of a word is a word in another language which is derived from the same root.):

    RÓIS  Gender: Feminine

    Usage: Irish

    Irish cognate of ROSE

Coming from a line including Seeley, Morrissy, and Hyland, I applaud your name choices: éachtach!

  18. I don't think so. Not at all. I think it's great for the girl's name to be different sounding. I think it's a beautiful combination of names, giving tribute to awesome cultures and places.
