Question:

Too worried about others opinions?

It's like I'm always worried about what other people think.Whether I'm worrying about so-and-so's opinion on my backpack, afraid to get new jeans because I'm afraid that I'll stand out too much or that they're too out of style.

Even on Friday, when I got my eyes tested and went to pick up frames,I didn't care whether I liked them or not,I was just constantly afraid that so-and-so wouldn't like them or they weren't 'cool'.

Today, when I continued to dust and rearrange my room,I was afraid that it would look too babyish or that my room looked too much like a library and that it would look 'odd'

Anyways,as you have probably read by now,I'm always so focused on what other people think,I don't think for myself. Is there anyway I could become more confident and less dependant on what others think?

  1. I used to be that way, but i seriously just let go of everything and did things that >>I<< liked and what i thought was cool. Don't worry about whether you think people are looking at you because chances are, they're thinking the same thing, which means, they're too worried about how they look...so if you really think about it,...nobody ever thinks about anybody else...YAY SELF OBSORBED HUMANS!

  2. First Catey, I am about to turn 55, male and at one time I was that way. Many many years ago. When I look back and see the wonderful things I missed because I worried to much about what others think, I become very sad.

Lets not let you go throu what I did. Wake up in the morning and its a new day, walk over to mirror and fix your hair to how you feel, dress to your comfort, and wink at the boy you desire. Because life is no what other people think, life is what you think.

Look at things this way, that teacher you have in history, 2-3-4 years from now, will no longerbe part of you life, you most likely never see again. So who cares what they think.

Your body will change along with your likes and desires. Let life take you on this awsome adventure. Because its not getting there that makes life exciting, its the road we choose to travel.

  3. Just wear something so out of school. And tell others to back off.

  4. I remember that I was once like that, but now I stopped caring about what others think and trust me, I've had a great time! I've done some pretty outrageous things but had fun with it! and you know, if others don't like it, f*** them!! I'm not gonna let them stop me! decorate your room the way YOU like it, get the backpack YOU like, the jeans YOU want and others will look up to you for it. Hey, it worked for me!

  5. I'm that way too sometimes. I read a poster in my theology teachers classroom that said "In 10 years from now it's not going to matter what jeans you wore in highschool, what other kids thought of you, or what you said or did that was dorky. All that's going to matter is how you felt about yourself and how you feel looking back."

Just do your own thing, it matters how YOU feel about yourself, not what others think. In 5 years who cares if they don't like your jeans or think you're room is babyish. All that's going to matter is how much fun in had in those years that you spent as a teenager. Don't waste the best years of your life worrying about what other people think.

Sometimes you have to learn a lesson the hard way, by wasting the time you could've spent having fun, like me. Just do what YOU feel is right for YOU!

Good Luck and I hope this helped!*
