Too young to fly solo? I NEED TO CATCH RENT!!!?

Ok for those of you that are musical theatre buffs that don't know yet, RENT is closing on sept 7. Well, idk if i'd ever have a chance to see it EVER so i'm takin matters in my own hands. I'm planning a trip to the big apple in august and will prolly be able to stay at a friend of the families. I have come up on a prob though. Am i too young to fly solo? I'm 17 and i turn 18 like 10 days after i leave!!

Why should you be too young to fly?

You have a passport, right.

My daughter flew on her own to Switzerland when she was 5 1/2 and had no problem.  

Mind you, she did have a guardian from the airline from departure to arrival time.

I flew to Switzerland from California by myself when I was 12.

No, you are not too young to fly.

But you may be a bit too naive for the "Big Apple" though.

p.s.- Nobody in New York calls it the Big Apple.  Just a heads up.
