I am on prevacid 30MG twice a day, and this evening I think I may have taken two. I poured a glass of juice to take my medicine, drank some juice, and then went to the bathroom. When I came back, I couldn't remember if I took a pill with my drink or not. I figured I didn't becuase I needed to go to the bathroom, but now I'm not sure. Is there any danger if I have taken 3 prevacid 30mg tablets in one day? (12 hour period)

  1. you sound like you have a terrible memory problem. you can get away with it but don't do this a lot because drugs in general are meant to be taken as directed. i recommend writing down or keeping a pill holder with the days of the week to avoid this kind of avoidable accident.

  2. dont worry at all. it has not a single effect on you. even taking 3 tablets at once is still not a problem. it is a proton pump inhibitor, instead of purely neutralizing the acid in your stomach where too much can cause alkalosis. (but not with the case of prevacid)

    if youre still worried

Oral PREVACID doses up to 5000 mg/kg in rats (approximately 1300 times the 30 mg human dose based on BSA) and in mice (about 675.7 times the 30 mg human dose based on BSA) did not produce deaths or any clinical signs.

meaning if you were a 60kg rat, you'd have to take 180g (180 000mg) and yet it wouldnt kill you or have any notable effects
