I'm 30 years old, perfect health. I don't take any medicine on regular days. But, last week I went to the doctor with a bladder infection. I saw him friday, and he perscribed me Fluconazole. It kills any bacteria.

I have learned now that the doctor perscribed 5 ml (200mg). On the label, it says "Take 25 ml by mouth as a single dose." This is LIQUID, and the bottle is one the medicine just comes in and the pharmisist just added water.. The bottle itself has 40 ml.

It's been four hours and I haven't gotten sick, but I am livid. The doctor perscribed 5 ml and they put on the label I need to take 25 ml. I understand humans made mistakes, but.....

I stopped before finishing the bottle, I guess I may have taken 800-900mg. My doctor is notified and said I should be fine (medicine is not toxic), and CVS admitted fault.

Is there anything I can do? I would like to make a formal complaint against CVS and have the person that filled this FIRED.

  1. I am a pharmacist who was fired earlier this week, supposedly for making too many errors. Please consider a few things. The pharmacy manager was deeply involved in 2 of the 4 errors. Altogether, she has probably made twice as many errors as I have during the last 12 months, but she doesn't believe in reporting them.

Neither she nor the store manager nor the regional manager who fired me even said they were sorry, although I have been there for 5 years and have a customer service award. In fact, I was given a customer service reward worth about $10 a few hours before I was suspended. No, I'm not kidding.

As with all of life, there is no single formula for justice. As someone else pointed out, where would be we if everyone who committed errors was terminated? I have only heard of one pharmacist ever having claimed to have not made any errors. No one believes her, and by now, she has probably been proven wrong anyway.
