  1. Do you mean the GUI - graphical user interface?

    Most of the GUI is done using VB.NET

    Most back end programming is done using C++

  2. It sounds like you are looking for some UML tools. The only one I have really had a chance to use is Microsoft Visio. While that worked ok, I generally prefer using a few white boards and dry-erase markers.... at least until I finalize my plan. This is because I find it is easier to make changes, in the beginning stages of planning, on a dry-erase board than it is on a UML program.... however, you can save UML diagrams in computer programs which is nice if you ever have to go back and review/change a system you made a year ago and have not looked at since. Also UML programs can let you be much more precise and clear. Some can even generate source code for the classes and their fields.

    Here is a list of UML tools from wikipedia. I cannot say how well they do or do not work though..... you may want see if you can find reviews or opinions on them.
