Question:

Tooth Extraction Site?

Well, it's a holiday weekend and I hate to bother my dentist. I know he has a family and is probably trying to spend some time with them.

I got a tooth removed on 8/28 and it is now 8/31. I may have a dry socket but I don't have much pain. Just in the morning and even then it is bearable without medication of any kind.

My question is when I checked out my gum this morning the socket is a gross brown-grey-green, dead color. Is it infected or is that normal? I tried to look up what a normal socket would look like while healing but couldn't find anything. If it is infected what can I do for it until my check up? Or should I consider this a dental emergency even though I am not really in much pain?

  1. if its not hurting i think your ok.  by the third day you should be brushing the area to keep it clean ... and rinsing with listerine. if you brush that spot with the softest brush available the green/brown will go away.   if it does start hurting and you don't want bother  the dentist --go to a clinic or emergency room, they will give you antibiotics if needed.
