Question:

Tooth extraction & pregnancy?

I have a horrible toothache, seems like it's in a few teeth because I have some in different parts of my mouth. (Two to be exact) .. & I can't get into the dentist until the 29th, they have no open appointments. I'm so afraid that they'll have to pull the tooth out in the back and fix the tooth in the front. Does it hurt to have a tooth pulled out? I've had a bunch of cavities filled before, and being pregnant seems to be straining my teeth! :( But I'm so scared! I know it'll hurt afterwards, but does it hurt when they do it?

& before you say it's not safe during pregnancy .. calm down, it is .. it's recommended that you get this stuff done while you're pregnant to prevent infections. The only things you shouldn't have done while pregnant & wait to do are things like teeth whitening and stuff like that.

  1. i feel ur pain!!

i had same prob when pregnant with my son!!

i did end up getting my tooth out , it doesn't hurt if ur properly anesthetized so don't worry!!

the worst ones to get out i've heard when pregnant r wisdom teeth but if ur anything like me when u go to get it out all u'll feel is relief just make sure if u get it out u swoosh ur mouth with salty water(don't swallow) to clean any food particcles out n to help it heal!!

good luck with rest of pregnancy hun x

  2. it doesn't hurt so much....when he pulls it out ur mouth is paralized and you can't feel it...when your not paralized then it hurts more but it's nothing serious......

  3. no it doesn't hurt when its pulled, like you i was afraid of the dentist especially when i had to have my back tooth pulled,  of course they numb the area and then pull simple as that all you will feel is some pressure and what i can only describe as a grinding sound.  A trick i learned when i was scared of things like needles teeth pulling etc is as they are about to do it start wriggling your toes and concentrate on doing that, strange i know but it really works.

  4. it wont nearly hurt as much as having a baby

  5. Just advise the dentist about you're pregnancy before he starts work on you're teeth, and tell him/her how far along you are.

  6. I had my wisdom teeth all pulled out at the same time, and no it didn't hurt. The pain afterwards did though! I had to stay on pain meds and couldn't eat anything and was swollowing too much bllod wich made me throw up!
