Tooth removal causes a smell?

I recently had a tooth removed,

and the dentist had to cut open my gums & give my stitches.

the cut has not grown over yet, and it smells bad.

it is normal for an open cut in your mouth to smell?

It could be food and bacteria growing in the extraction site. Rinse with warm salt water after every meal.

Yeah, my mouth smelled after getting my wisdom teeth removed, I think it's normal.
