  1. There are no real cons.

The sealant protects the most common area of the molars

where a cavity is likely to form.

There are usually covered at 100% by most insurance companies

    (on permanent molars).

Even if they are not covered, they are much cheaper than the

smallest cavity,  In central MD the average fee for 1 sealant is

    @$45.00 each. (The smallest cavity @ $125)

They are painless.  The procedure is similiar to having fingernails

painted.  There are no needles involved.

Reputable dentists will guarantee the sealants for up to 3 years,

replacing or touching up as needed at 6 month check ups.

  2. i have gotten my teeth sealed it tasted gross but it was worth it i have great teeth and no cavities.

  3. They are generally accepted practice, and most dentists do them.

  4. My daughter had it done on all her molars. I have really soft, cavity prone teeth, so I wanted to do it for the kids so they don't have the same problems I do.

  5. pro's- it prevents your childs teeth especially the molars being attacked by dental carries.

-it seals the grooves or surfaces of the teeth

con's-it can fall off and sometimes, parents think their childs teeth is sealed, leaving the teeth open for dental carries especially when kids dont go to the dentist routinely.

sealants should be checked every 6 months because they are not as strong as fillings.

  6. Tooth sealant for caries prone children is one of the best preventive measure. By using tooth sealant, your children will become caries resistant. The incidence of caries will decrease to a great extent. Moresoever it is not a painful procedure. In my opinion there is no negative point in getting the tooth sealant. If the tooth is caries free for 4 years after eruption, then it is said that this particular tooth does not need tooth sealant.
