For the last 2 days i have had the worst toothache ever! with working i couldn't get to the dentist. I have been taking Nurofen to kill the pain but that didn't work.

Today when i woke up (yes i did actually manage to get to sleep for like an hour), my face was swollen on the left side, and the pain has subsided a bit.

i look kind of like i have a golf ball in my mouth.

I went to the Emergency room at my local hospital who told me i have an abscess, And that was it.....i expected some antibiotics or something, but i was just sent home an told to get to the dentist. well i cant get to the dentist for a couple of days....any suggestions to relieve pain/swelling?

  1. The first thing you cando is make an appointment. secondly if you have motrin or ibuprofen it has an ingredient that will stop the swelling (DO NOT TAKE VICODIN)it only puts you to sleep. and if you have any antibotics such as penicilin start taking it to get rid of the infection make sure you use hot compresses on your face (it works) and get to the dentist when you can.
