Question:

Toothache one week after visiting the dentist?

Last Monday I went to the dentist (after not going for years upon years) and had seven cavaties filled. Two cavaties in the front, and five on my bottom right molars. They weren't bad, as I hadn't had any sensitivity prior to the appointment, they were just there and needed to be filled before they got bad. Afterwards I expected some sensitivity, especially where the majority of the cavaties were filled, and was somewhat sore after the numbing wore off. Over the course of the following days however I keep getting a toothache in that area, and it's getting worse instead of better. It started as a dull ache that came and went, and now it's a throbbing pain that seems to be constant. It goes away with advil, but as soon as that wears off it slowly starts to ache again. She said I might get a toothache if my teeth weren't setting like they normally do when I close my mouth, but I feel like they are just as they always were. What's going on?

  1. That's a question for your dentist...GO BACK and ask them...you should not still be hurting.

  2. I would try to give it more time.  I have had pain before after a filling maybe not as bad as you described but kinda bad.

  3. u must define if the pain is related to any factor (bitting, eating, cold stuff, hot stuff), or its spontaneous (start with no reason), how long dose it last? few seconds, its normal specially if ur cavities were in the side of the tooth neaar gums, it will hurt a little with cold stuff, but relieved once the cold stuff is away, this may last for more than 2 weeks, but if the pain is constant or increasing, last for mintutes to hours with cold or hot stuff, this means the tooth pulp (nerve) is affected, may need root canal, if the pain is by bitting or eating and resolves seconds after relieving the bite, mostly its due to high filling

  4. Advil will not fix a discomfort it hides it.

the problem lies in the trauma your moth was subjected too it needs to heal, the moth has a vast amount of bacteria that can slow the healing , cause future problems, and small discomforts that are pain full in our sensitive mouth.

an excellent solution's to this is.

Whiskey, because of its high alcohol content will kill allot of the bad bacteria causing your discomfort. take a swig and swill it around in your mouth like mouth wash for a min. drink it back or spit it out that's up to you ; )

    works great.
