  1. Umm if you are having severe tooth pain.. you should be making an emergency appointment. I had severe tooth pain back in January, I contacted my dentist right away and she made an appointment with me the next day.

The next day the pain subsided and I had a hunch that I would need a root canal and I was right. I had to get a root canal and they were able to save my tooth because of how fast I reacted to the pain. Believe me after they did the root canal, I was pain free!

If this is your same situation, waiting 2 weeks, you might lose your tooth.

  2. avoid sweet, minty foods anythings that will make your teeth hurt. you'll just have to put up with the pain for a few weeks

  3. Why can't you get an appointment with your dentist sooner?  This is an emergency.

Call another dentist.  You don't have to deal with this pain for a few weeks.

Sounds like you may need a root canal.  This should be addressed before you get an infection.  If you do get an infection, your face may swell.  The best thing to do in this case is apply WARM compresses to the area.  Don't apply cold!

To ease the pain for now....take 2 advil for inflamation and 2 tylenol for pain.

Rinse with warm salt water as well.

  4. You need to NOT wait a few weeks... GO TO THE DENTIST NOW!!  Waiting a few weeks when you are in a lot of pain is not a good idea... you are in pain for a reason!

I understand tooth aches!!  They can be more painfull than anything else.  And honestly, the only thing that will help is getting the problem taken care of... or getting a shot of Novocaine, or prescription pain killers.  Both of these remedies require you to go to the dentist! TYLENOL & ADVIL WON'T WORK!

  5. I have to agree with susieQcleaner.

Call your dentist now and tell them you have a bad toothache.  They should get you in right away.  If they can't or won't try another one.  Sounds like you have an urgent need.  Also check your phone book for emergency dentists.

  6. Go dentist sooner?

  7. aspirin

    acetiminophin

    iboprofen

    morphine

    oxycontin

    soma

    vicodin

    alchohol

    narcatics or

    a stick to bite on

  8. Warm water and a tablespoon of salt. gargle.

  9.   if it is still sold

    oil of cloves

  10. antibiotics usualy does the trick

  11. Advil?

  12. Iv'e had some terrible toothaches, and my dentist recommended taking the regular does of extra-strength Tylenol, and the regular dose of Advil at the same time.. They react differently with the body, so you dont need to worry about overdosing ( taking 2 of each isnt the same as taking 4 of just one of them). The combination of the two types of painkillers works really well... My dentist also has a  degree in pharmacy, so he's knows his stuff!

  13. If you have a toothache, you should be seen sooner than "a few weeks" dental decay is an infection and the toothache is the symptom telling you that it needs attention.

Get the toothache checked out so it won't become a more serious problem,,,

  14. Oil of cloves. Your pharmacy will have it.

I learned of this remedy in reading "Marathon Man" and tried it myself--it works!

  15. WHY...are you waiting a few weeks to see the DDS ?? If the pain is at the level you describe, you need to see the DDS...ASAP and that doesn't mean in a few weeks, it means in a few short day's at most. I don't know your overall health but bad teeth can dump infection into the blood stream and if you happen to have a serious health issue such as Cardiac, you could end up in a funeral home....In the mean time there is always, Tylenol, Aleve and Advil...and of course OTC specific tooth pain control products...Good luck and I do wish you well.
