So I'm going to the Bahamas for a week and my sister who is a flight attendent told me I should get this cavity that has a huge hole hole in my molars fixed because once in the air it may hurt really bad. And its kinda late now because I leave on friday and have know time to get it fixed without all the pain. Sometimes she over-exaggerate things so I'm just wondering if this true or not and whats your opinion on it.

  1. Not a good idea.  The pressure when flying will make the tooth really ache .  I flew to America with a cavity - by the time I arrived at the end of the flight my gum had swollen like a big abcess. x*x

  2. i dont think it matters. Yes it will be painful and not the best plain ride but you'll be ok

  3. Since getting it fixed isn't in the cards before the trip, try taking some ibuprofen about an hour before the flight. You can also try a q-tip soaked in some clove oil and place it in the hole. Don't suck on it, just hold it there. Clove oil is used as an antibiotic and is especially good for toothaches. Hope this helps and have a great vaca!

  4. Your sister is right! Your cavitity will probably hurt bad once in the air so hopefully you can get the molar fixed before you travel.

  5. Get it fixed before you travel. Not only will the sinus pressure from flying possible hurt like the dickens, but if your cavity gets worse or you lose the tooth (it happens!), you will be out of the US and unlikely to be able to use your dental insurance to get it fixed.
