Question:

Top 1% of the richest of the rich in U.S.A own about how much wealth?

I was reading a book and it was saying

how wealth was distributed in 1750 Boston.

I began to wonder how wealth is distributed

now so I can somehow compare and see

the changes. I would really like to find

out, so if you know answer!

  1. They have about  1/2 of the investment wealth but if you include home ownership  it is a little over1/3, or a little more  since real estate prices have fallen. The top 1% earns over 20% of the income and last year one hedge fund manager had an income of 3 billion dollars.

  3. Well, I don't know that I would trust that guys answer from the Christian science monitor...  To put in perspective, back in the days of J.D. Rockefeller he earned 7 percent of all the income in this country.  Today Warren Buffetts 60 billion dollar fortune is less than a 100th of a percent of our 13 trillion dollar a year income.  SO, when calculating the income of  the highest earning 3 million individuals what would you come up with?  Around a trillion dollars if all of them earn a million a year.  So thats like 13th of all the country's wealth more or less.

  4. I heard the richest 1% own half the nation's wealth.
