Top 10 Premier League Players of 2010/11 so far – Part 1
We are now into the 6th month of this season and have witnessed an enthralling game so far. Some top teams have failed to win matches that everyone expected them to win while some of the recently promoted sides have surprised teams with their
aggressive and attractive playing styles.
The league this season has been extremely unpredictable and some of the players have emerged from the shadow of their own selves and have moved up the next gear. There have been exceptional performances by so many players this season and it has been very
hard for us to pin down 10 top players who have stood out.
However, we have not only taken into consideration their individual performances, but also the fact how those performances have affected their team's overall position in the table and how big an impact has the player made all over.
Here is our list of 10 top players who we believe have stood out this season, starting from no.10:
10. Joe Hart – (Manchester City)
The new no.1 for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 and Edwin van der Sar.
The former Birmingham man had to face competition from the experienced http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284 at City. However, the talent that Hart possessed was spotted by Mancini and he was made no.1 at Eastlands by the City boss.
Hart hasn’t really disappointed anyone so far and has been worthy of the place in City’s starting line-up.
He has kept 10 clean sheets this season which is the highest by any goal keeper in the league.
Some of his performances this season have left everyone in an awe of the 23-year old. His triple save earlier against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, along with other superb performances have been a huge factor in City’s rise to the top of the table.
Roberto http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Hart-c18699.
Hart, who was named Best Goalkeeper of the Season last year, is certainly on his way to retain that title this year also, only difference would be that he wins it with Manchester City this time around.
9. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Elmander-c18782 – (Bolton Wanderers)
The Swede has been a revelation this season and has seen his career flourish under new Bolton manager Owen Coyle. The Big centre forward at first came to England with a huge reputation but failed to stamp his authority in the league, he found it too fast
paced for him.
His performances particularly goal scoring ability was much to be desired off and Bolton fans had given up on their record signing. However, it all changed after manager Owen Coyle took over.
This season, Elmander has earned himself the respect of the fans and his teammates alike. His goals have seen Bolton move to the top half of the table. Bolton even jumped up into fourth spot at one time but they have been in and around the Europa League
places since then.
Elmander has found the back of the net 9 times this season and has also provided 5 assists. He had been on a barren patch of late but his performances, especially in the month of November did not go unnoticed as he won the Barclays Player of the Month award
for November.
Owen Coyle praised his star striker earlier in the season, saying “"I'm thrilled for him because he had a very good start (to the season) and people were obviously giving him praise, but he's continuing that, and that's very pleasing.
"He's a joy to work with, and to see somebody come through the other side after being panned every week speaks volumes for him, not only as a footballer, but as a man - the mental belief he's shown to see himself through that.”
