Top 10 Premier League Players of 2010/11 so far – Part 2
In Part 2 of this series, we look at the players who came at no.8, 7 and 6 in our list of top 10 Premier League players of 2010/11 season so far:
8. Cheikh Tiote - (Newcastle United)
This one might surprise a few of you but the summer signing from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 has been one of the coups of the season. At £3.5m, he already looks like a bargain and is now rated at more than £10m by Newcastle United.
Tiote has played in the ‘Claude Makelele’ role for Newcastle United this season and has not let them down with his performances. Tough in the tackle and extremely neat in possession, the Ivorian has earned rave reviews from pundits all over the media.
Tiote made his club debut against Everton at Goodison Park and he simply stole the show. He made 44 passes with 100% success rate, completed all three of his tackles, made two vital interceptions and had one shot on goal, which was on target.
His playing style has drawn comparisons with Chelsea midfield maestro, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294 and Tiote himself has said that he would like to emulate the Ghanaian international.
Andy Carroll might have grabbed all the headlines for Newcastle this season but Tiote epitomizes what an unsung hero is like. The 24-year old Ivorian surely has a bright future ahead of him.
7. Gareth Bale - (Tottenham Hotspur)
If Tiote’s inclusion surprised you, Bale’s position at no.7 will surprise you even more. If the hype around the Welshman is to go by anything, he should be sitting at no.1 spot of this list. However, this list only takes into account a player’s performance
in the league alone.
Bale’s best moments have come in the Champions League. Nevertheless, he has been a sensation this season and his goals and assists have helped Spurs to mount an outside challenge for Premier League title.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422 is being touted as the next big thing in world football and rightly so. The boy has got everything. He has electric pace, can shoot from any distance and his crossing and dribbling are second to none.
Harry Redknapp moved the youngster from the left back spot to the left side of the midfield and he has simply flourished in his new role. He has been a nightmare for all right backs in the country and it remains a mystery that what needs to be done to stop
this man?
His energy and stamina levels are unmatched. We have seen him run the length of the pitch, with the ball, at full pace in the stoppage time at the end of the match. That is just unreal and unseen. If he can add more goals to his game then he certainly can
be the next http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629.
6. Scott Parker - (West Ham United)
What more can be said about this 30-year old, West Ham would have been nowhere had Scott Parker not been with them this season. Parker is the heart and soul of West Ham United but his performances this season have not been matched by the results on the pitch
for the Hammers.
Scott Parker has been a subject of transfer speculation and heavily linked with Spurs since summers. However, his performances have not gone unnoticed and the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
man.
Parker has played an old fashioned box to box midfielder role for West Ham and everything good that West Ham do, he has played a part in that. He resembles http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Xabi-Alonso-c37045 in his Liverpool days, when everything would go through him. Parker similarly dictates
the pace of the game and runs the show from the middle of the park.
However, add to that Lampard like late runs into the box and you get a top class central midfielder. West Ham’s recent revival can be attributed to their talisman Scott Parker and had it not been for him West Ham would have surely been reeling at the bottom
of the table.
