No because Mark Cuban is so stupid to give their full mid-level exception to Diop who'll play only 16-20 mins per game and his contract lasts for 5 or 6 years. What a dumb *****. I hope they can get Josh Smith for Josh Howard becuase Howard is a criminal. I thought he wouldn't do anything stupid again after admitting in the most crucial time that he smoked weeds.

They have no chance with the top three, they don't have the cap space.  The Mavericks still have their mid-level exception, so they should be able to grab one, they are still a playoff contender.  Though, two of those are their players.

well as far as i know the mavs aren't true contenders anymore. i think the lakers hornets rockets and jazz will be the true contenders in the west now instead of what used to be the spurs mavs and suns. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: the mavs should try to get josh smith. i don't know if they are willing to trade howard but he's been bringing the mavs down while the lakers are soaring.

I have been a Mavs fan since 1989 in their worst years, but I'm starting to lose hope.  They blew it in the finals a couple years ago, then lost in the first round when they came in with the absolute best record as well.  I think it's time to find a new team to root for.
