Top 10 golfers to watch at the Honda Classic – Part 1
All the players are excited to play the Honda Classic in Florida, but among the hundreds, experts have declared ten golfers as the hottest.
The tournament is scheduled to begin from March 1 to 4, at the site of the PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.
Recently, golf experts released the top-10 list containing the best players in the field. They are the most competent players in the field but the title will be in favour of only one player.
Rory McIlroy is on the top most position and all the previews are in favour of him. He will be entering the golf course to secure a win and to lead over the others.
The 22-year-old Northern Irish professional is confident to be the world no. 1 golfer by winning the title impressively.
He had missed the chance at the Accenture Match Play Championship while facing a defeat by Ernie Els. However now, he is more confident and focused on bagging the victory.
His performance has been amazing since January, and has finished all the tournaments in the top-5 of the leaderboard. He is a highly rated player in the field and the best among all.
Lee Westwood is the second most favourite after McIlroy. He has familiarity with the Floridian site and will be delivering his best.
The 38-year-old English professional also delivered his best at the Match Play Championship and finished on the fourth position.
Similarly, he played three events on the European Tour. He was a runner-up in one event and finished other two on the 12th and 17th positions amazingly.
His current season's performance is impressive. His statistics are enough to declare him as the second highest chaser of the title at Honda Classic.
Mark Wilson is on the third favourite position. The current world number 24 won the title of the Humana Challenge in January 2012. He recorded an amazing score of 24-under par and 264 strokes in total.
Later, he played the Accenture Match Play Championship and finished the tournament on the third position. He was only one step behind McIlroy.
He was also the winner of the Honda Classic in 2007 and is now looking positively towards the 2012 episode.
His position is also strong in the field of the Floridian tournament-staged by PGA.
Tiger Woods, an all time favourite is on the fourth position for his major achievements. His performance is not up to the mark in the current season, but he has enough capabilities to take the lead over the others.
The 36-year-old American professional is the 14-time major champion and has won 71 PGA events in total.
On the other hand, he is still a money leader, earning $95,014,942 throughout his career.
The Floridian native will be playing the Honda Classic after 19 years and is confident to record a win.
He has also been looking forward to ending his winless career since 2009 and has ample chances to do so at the PGA National Champion Course.
Kyle Stanley is on the fifth position for displaying the amazing performances in the current year. He won the title of the Waste Management Phoenix Open by scoring 15-under par and 269 strokes in total.
He also recorded a runner-up position at the Farmers Insurance Open. He played tremendously throughout the four days, but scored three bogeys on the final hole and tied with Brandt Snedeker for the first position.
He lost the tournament in a play-off mode unexpectedly and is now looking forward to winning his second PGA title at the Honda Classic by not making such a mistake again.
