Top 10 golfers to watch at the Honda Classic – Part 2
Continued from Part 1 . . .
After speaking about the top-5 in the previous feature, the rest of the players, along with their expectations and possibilities at the Honda Classic will be discussed in detail here.
Keegan Bradley is on the sixth favourite position and will be competing with other professionals in the field.
He is famous for being the major winner of 2011. He won the title of the PGA Championship in the last season and defeated Jason Dufner in a play-off mode.
He scored an 8-under 272 and displayed an amazing performance in August. He appeared in the 2012 PGA season confidently and secured a runner-up position at the Northern Trust Open.
Bradley, Bill Haas and Phil Mickelson finished tied for the leading position and Haas won remarkably.
However, this loss did not affect Bradley’s position and he is confident to secure a lead over the others at the Honda Classic.
Y.E. Yang holds the seventh expert opinion’s position. The 40-year-old South Korean professional missed the cut in two PGA tournaments of 2012.
However, he was the runner-up at the last episode of the Honda Classic.
His performance was amazing and he gave a tough time to the winner of the tournament in 2011. Like Westwood, he also knows the course very well and can finish in the top-5 at the tournament.
Yang also finished on the 17th position at the Match Play Championship and has returned to his full form now.
He will be competing well against the other field members in the chase for the title.
Ryan Moore is on the eight spot. The world 66-ranked player started his current season unimpressively. However, he finished 9 tournaments in the top-25 in the last season.
He improved his strokes and made himself capable for the Honda Classic title this year.
His driving accuracy is at its best and other leading players will have to compete hard against his accurate driving strokes.
Charl Schwartzel is on the ninth favourite position among the hundreds. The 27-year-old South African professional is ranked 12th.
He has substantial golf experience, which will give him a potential advantage over the rest of the field.
He won the Masters in April 2011, with an impressive 2-stroke lead over Jason Day and Adam Scott.
He had also finished the PGA Grand Slam of Golf at the runner-up position and earned $2,604,558 in the last PGA season.
In the current season, he played four tournaments in total, three on the European Tour and one World Golf Championship event.
He finished all in the top-25 list and enjoyed the stay in the Middle Eastern region. Being a Master winner can help him secure a good place at the Honda Classic.
At last, Justin Rose is on the last position of the top-10 favourites at the Honda Classic. He is the winner of the BMW Championship, played in September 2011.
His top finishes of the 12 events is also amazing. He earned $3,401,420 in the last season and is also playing well in the current one.
He has some outstanding scoring techniques, which will help him compete well against the other players.
The top-10 list has been completed and all the players discussed above are the hottest among all. They all possess key skills to win the tournament, with minor differences as well.
It is certain that the winner will be among the top-10 favourites. In my opinion, McIlroy will be the proud winner, but due to the other top-9 players, he has to hit highly impressive strokes at the Floridian site.
The field of the Honda Classic has all the top-ranked players except for some. The biggest blow is the absence of the current world No.1 Luke Donald.
He will not be playing the tournament, leaving space for McIlroy to take the top spot. The tournament is about to start and all the players will tee off on Thursday, March 1, 2012.
