Top 10 horses of 2012 GB season - Part 1
In horseracing, things change very quickly. To stay on top of the rankings, consistency is the most important factor. It is a very tricky sport, and only horses with extraordinary talent can survive at the highest level.
As per the current stats, Camelot is sitting on top of the table with £1,083,171. Despite a couple of recent defeats, Aidan O’Brien’s charge is dominating the rankings. Owned by Derrick Smith & Mrs John Magnier & Michael Tabor, the 3-year-old started this
season with a wonderful victory at Newmarket.
Continuing his fascinating work, the son of Montjeu did business respectively at Epsom and Curragh. After winning the first two legs of British Triple Crown, the colt reached Doncaster in a bid to become the first one to accomplish the feat since 1970.
But he failed in a disappointing manner. The runner-up spot, however, helped him bag a prize of £118,250. Consequently, he retained his place at the top. The latest defeat in France was a huge setback. The connections are yet to make a decision about Camelot’s
future outings, and it will be no surprise if he finishes off this season on top.
With £888,362, Frankel is at the second position. Sir Henry Cecil’s unbeaten colt has won four Group Ones so far this season. After conquering Newbury, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood, the son of Galileo showed his magic at York, clinching a comprehensive
7-length win over Farhh in the Group 1, Juddmonte International Stakes.
The star colt has a few races lined-up, and one can easily expect him to earn more money this season. It is interesting that Frankel has won all his races with huge margins.
Danedream has won 567,100 pounds so far, and deserves a place among top-3. The 4-year-old filly faced a terrible defeat in France, where she missed the podium by half a length in the Group 1, Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud.
It was an awful loss, but the P. Schiergen-trained filly quickly got her act together to thrive respectively at Royal Ascot and Baden-baden. There is no doubt over her skills, but it will very hard for her to surpass Frankel and Camelot.
