Top 10 jockeys of 2012 GB season - Part 3
Currently sitting at the fifth position with 117 wins, William Buick is just one step behind Paul Hanagan. He is the most successful rider this season, when it comes to win big races.
After showing an extraordinary performance with Earl Of Tinsdal in the Group 1, Gran Premio Di Milano SNAI, the dashing rider returned to Great Britain, and continued the marvellous work.
He took Fallen For You to an amazing win in the Coronation Stakes, before doing the trick with Izzi Top, who achieved an easy win in the Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes.
William Buick perpetuated his superb work, and won the Coral-Eclipse with Nathaniel. So far in the ongoing season, he has guided John Gosden’s five horses to glory at the top level.
William Buick’s ability to create shocking results makes him one of the most respected jockeys. However, he surely needs to win races on constant basis.
Ahead of riding Nathaniel against Frankel in the Qipco Champion Stakes, he had stated: "I haven't accepted defeat. Nathaniel is not a lost cause and we're not going there to finish second. That said, Frankel looks unbeatable.
"On Saturday he'll do what he's always been doing and win and win well and deep down I hope he does. I'll be trying to beat him, but it will be tough. I was talking to Frankie [Dettori] about beating Frankel and he said 'get real, nothing beats Frankel'."
Silvestre De Sousa is just one win behind William Buick. The dashing rider has not yet registered any mega victory, but seems fully ready to have one or two in the days to come.
Similar is the case with Jim Crowley, who is searching his first mega success of the season. He did a lot of wonders last year, including Prohibit’s classy victory in the King's Stand Stakes.
The competition for the fourth position is extremely close. William Buick, Silvestre De Sousa and Jim Crowley, all need just one good day to overtake Paul Hanagan. It will be interesting to see how things proceed in the near future.
