Top 10 jockeys of 2012 GB season - Part 4
Ryan Moore, sitting at the eighth place with 109 wins, is surely one of the best riders, carrying licence both for Flat and Jumps. He has enjoyed a mixed season so far.
When we look at his big victories this season, there is a list of three. The first one came in May, when he took the Aidan O’Brien-trained, Homecoming Queen, to the first position in the Group 1, Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes (British Champions Series).
The second big win came with Sea Moon, who faced no difficulty in dominating the proceedings in the Group 2, Hardwicke Stakes in June. Ryan Moore has done the trick outside Great Britain as well.
On August 19th, he travelled nicely on Snow Fairy to register an excellent win the Group 1, Darley Prix Jean Romanet. Presvis’ death due to colic was a huge blow for Ryan Moore, who partnered him to seven of his eight wins.
On the other hand, Jamie Spencer is aiming to complete this season’s century of victories. He currently has 87 wins to his name, along with 87 seconds, 85 thirds and 60 fourths. His biggest victory of the season came in mid September, when he rode Wigmore
Hall to an amazing win in the Grade 1, Northern Dancer Turf Stakes Presented By Vtech.
After winning that race, Spencer expressed his delight, saying: "He's one of my favourites - he tries really hard. I probably got there sooner than I wanted to, because he doesn't do a whole pile when he's in front. He hasn't won since this race last year,
and Michael Bell and his team did a great job training him, getting him back in good form."
In 2008, Hayley Turner recorded 100 victories for the first time. He currently has 82 wins to his credit, and holds a wonderful chance of reaching the three-figure-mark once again. He impressed everyone by winning the Grade 1, Beverly D. Stakes, with David
Simcock’s I'm A Dreamer.
It will be very interesting to see who manages to finish among top-3 at end of the season. The competition among the jockeys will get really exciting, as the season progresses. Good luck to all.
