Top 10 players still in search of first major title – Part 2

Steve Stricker
Top ranked American player on the OWGR has already won twice on the PGA Tour this year and is one of the formidable threatening forces rightfully poised to win a major event any time soon. He posted a rare 3-peat at his favourite hunting ground, the John
Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run last month to climb to the number five spot on the OWGR. He came close to winning a major at Oakmont in 2007 and Carnoustie the same year and is still in search of his first major breakthrough.
Adam Scott
The leading Australian player for the moment, who thrashed the field at last week’s WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club, to lift his first title of the current season, although he pulled himself in contention on several occasions this
year. Winner of the 2004 Players Championship, Scott was also the runner-up in 2011 Masters alongside countryman Day and has won 20 professional events in his stellar career. The 31-year-old Scott is all set to win his first major at the PGA Championship at
Atlanta.
Dustin Johnson
Another of those sad stories, who did everything right just to throw it all away in the final round. Johnson finished runner-up at the difficult Links course at the Open Championship at Sandwich and also had a second place finish at the Cadillac Championship
on the PGA tour earlier in the season.
The 27-year-old South Carolina native has been facing psychological woes for quite some time now, starting from his runner-up finish at the US Open at pebble Beach 2010. He had started off with a three-shot lead over Graeme McDowell but stumbled with an
over-par, 82 to finish off behind the winner. His best score at the PGA Championship came last year when he finished for a joint fifth and holds considerable ground to claim the title this year.
Nick Watney
The sturdy American is currently ranked number ten on the OWGR but his current form is bullish and a lot more dangerous than what his rankings possibly suggests. Watney has won twice on the PGA Tour this year at Doral and Aronimink and has posted eight top-ten
finishes this year.
Bubba Watson
The long-hitting Watson has managed to remain in the headlines both with his excellent on-course bids as well as his reckless statements over the European Tour events. Winner of the Zurich Classic or New Orleans, Watson will be tee-ing off at the PGA Championship
with a distinct advantage over his fellow players. He is one of the longest hitters of the ball on PGA in 2007 and can generate a ball speed of around 194mph which will be a great help to him at the long par-threes at Atlanta. He was the runner-up at PGA Championship
last year when he lost a Playoff bid to Martin Kaymer.
K.J.Choi
One of the best of all the Koreans to come out in the recent season, Choi boasts off extraordinary form for the moment and will be hoping to break the major taboo in Atlanta this week. He has already won the Players Championship this year and posted no fewer
than six Top 10 finishes in the season.
Matt Kuchar
Another of the strong American contestants who is without a major title on his belt, despite some strong performances in his career. A graduate from Georgia Tech, Kuchar knows the course at Atlanta like the back of his hand and has already posted a whopping
eight Top 10 finishes in the season. He was also the runner-up at the Memorial this year.
