Top 10 trainers of 2012 GB season - Part 1
In horseracing, no one can take the credit away from trainers, who work really hard. It is tough to deny the significance of jockeys, but the handler remains the most important person. A good trainer can take an average horse to the glory, but a bad trainer
only turns a talented one into a loser.
According to the stats, John Gosden is the most successful trainer so far this season. Until October 18th, he had secured 106 victories - most by anyone in the ongoing season.
The Newmarket handler has plenty of extraordinary horses in his yard. And those who are average, he makes them extraordinary. With 3,357,975 pounds, the veteran trainer is currently sitting on top of the list of ten 10.
The big man tasted first Group One success of the season in June, when Fallen For You did the trick in the Coronation Stakes (British Champions Series). The big victories continued to come his way. After Izzi Top’s success in the Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty
Polly Stakes, Nathaniel did the damage in the Coral-Eclipse.
John Gosden’s first five Group One victories came with jockey, William Buick. After that, he and Richard Hughes teamed up to take The Fugue to an excellent win in the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes. Another glory came to John Gosden at the start of this
month, when Ghurair did business in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Trophy.
He has many horses lined-up, and more wins will surely come to him this season. It will be no surprise, if John Gosden finishes off this season on top of the standings.
With 2,859,197 pounds, Aidan O’Brien is at the second place. The experienced handler suffered a huge setback, when stable-star, Camelot, failed to become the British Triple Crown winner.
Yet, he has plenty of big wins under his belt. Camelot earned him three Group Ones, before Imperial Monarch and Excelebration respectively won outside Great Britain. Pedro The Great also brought glory to the stable by winning the Group 1, Keeneland Phoenix
Stakes in August.
Camelot’s defeat was a huge blow, but there are many other dashing horses in the yard, who can give plenty of success to Aidan O’Brien in the days to come.
