Followed by an amazing amateur career, Fowler switched over to professional ranks in 2009 and vowed to translate his amateur success at the professional level.
He met little success in his debut year and although he was not able to pull in a title, he was nominated for Rookie of the Year for his several strong finishes.
Out of the 28 events he played in 2010, Fowler made the halfway cut through 20 of them, pulling in seven top-ten and ten top-25 finishes in the season.
He started off 2011 with little success. His strongest performance on the tour came at the Open Championship at Royal St. Georges, where he posted a strong joint fifth to surge to the top.
He pulled in as the runner-up at World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational back at the home turf.
Fowler finally decided to try his luck on the Asian Turf, a strategy which has often been employed by the struggling golfers, and with amazing results.
The 23-year-old will be hoping to keep up with his newly gained form and will try to bring his success on the PGA Tour back at home.
His earnings for the year 2011 surged up to $2,084,681 and the young Fowler played with a scoring average of 70.51.
Jason Dufner
Official World Golf Rankings: 33
FedExCup Rankings: 25
PGA Tour wins in 2011: 0
Jason Dufner has completed his 11th consecutive year after turning professional in the year 2000 and has been part of the PGA Tour since the year 2004.
Although the 34-year-old American did not win a title in 2011, his consecutive strong performances have helped him break in the top-50 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR). He is currently poised at 33rd on the OWGR.
Dufner is an Economics graduate from Auburn University and had to struggle to retain his playing status on the PGA Tour during the initial stage of his career.
Dufner played on the Nationwide Tour for consecutive years to finally earn a tour card for the PGA.
Out of the 23 appearances Dufner made on the PGA this year, he was able to make the halfway cut through 15 of them, pulling in two runner-up finishes.
He carded the runner-up’s place at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in February and another joint third at Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
He finished for a strong joint sixth at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass and pulled in as the runner-up at the last major of the year, the PGA Championship.
Dufner has been a tad bit unfortunate for not being able to translate his high finishes into victories heading into the weekend.
He has jumped into contention on several occasions only to drop down the leaderboard in the end. Dufner earned a total of $3,057,860 for the year 2011, with a scoring average of 70.36.
