He caught immediate attention when he blasted a record low of 61 in the 2007 Buick Invitational earlier in the year.
He fell for a 74 on the third day to finish for a joint third, a finish good enough to draw attention of the golf critics as well as the crowds.
He made the cut in eight consecutive events at the start of his rookie season, starting from Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in January and ending at Arnold Palmer Invitational in March.
Pulling in successive strong finishes, including the joint 12th at the Players Championship and a joint 23rd at the US Open, Snedeker won his first PGA Tour event, the Wyndham Championship.
He was declared Rookie of the Year at the end of the season and also surged to an all-time-high of 55 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
Snedeker started off the 2011 season with a disappointing start when he failed to make the halfway cut at the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation.
Out of 26 appearances he made on the PGA in the year 2011, he made the cut in 16 of them, with seven top-10 and fourteen top-25 finishes on the tour.
He missed the cut at two major titles of the year, the Open Championship and the PGA Championship and posted a high of joint 11 at the US Open in Congressional Country Club.
Snedeker’s thrilling victory at the Heritage, gives an insight of the potential player he is where he overcame a deficit of six shots in the final round to forge a playoff with Luke Donald of England.
Snedeker landed the title on the third Playoff as the two raging competitors tied the first two Playoff holes.
The burly American made his last appearance at the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia, an unofficial event on the PGA Tour calendar and has not played since then due to the elective surgery he underwent to fix a degenerative tissue.
The 31-year-old Snedeker has confirmed that he will be making a comeback at the start of the 2012 season, hoping to carry on with his winning form throughout the year.
