He won his first event after a lapse of four years, the Australian Masters in November. He finished for an amazing joint fifth at the Masters the same year and as the runner-up at BMW PGA Championship in 2007, where he lost in the sudden death Playoff.

He surged to top-20 on the OWGR for the first time in his career.

Rose started off the year 2011 with a strong finish at the Transitions Championship where he threw away his overnight lead in the final round to finish down the leaderboard.

In September, Rose carded his lone victory on the PGA Tour, the BMW Championship, and the third leg of the FedExCup Playoff Championship at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club.

Rose amassed a total of € 571,283 on the European Tour money list and $3,401,420 on the PGA Tour this year.

He missed the cut at both the US Open and the PGA Championship but finished for a strong joint 11th at the Masters.

His scoring average remained 70.45 on the PGA Tour while an encouraging 71 on the European Tour.
