Casey surged to an all-time high of number three on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) in 2009.
This was when he pulled in two titles on the European Tour, Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in January and BMW PGA Championship in May, and a joint 20th finish at the Masters.
The Englishman started off the year 2011 in the hopes of making it big on both tours. He jolted to the top of the leaderboard at the season-opener, Volvo Golf Champions, but kept lurking in the shadows for the rest of the season.
His second strong performance came at the WGC-HSBC Champions on the European Tour where he finished for the fourth place.
Out of the 15 PGA Tour appearances this year, he was able to make the halfway cut in 11 of them, with his best finish at the Chevron World Challenge where he closed for an outright third.
Alvaro Quiros
Official World Golf Rankings: 22
Race to Dubai Rankings: 6
European Tour wins in 2011: 2
Considered as the longest driver on the European Tour for consecutive years, Alvaro Quiros has not been part of the tour for decades.
Rather he has spent a meagre six years on the tour, yet his profile speaks volumes of his sporting skills and talents.
Born in San Roque, Cádiz, Spain, Quiros turned professional in 2004 and joined the Challenge Tour, a subsidiary of the European Tour.
He finished in the top-35 on the qualifying school to win a tour card for the European Tour 2007 calendar.
Later on, he went on to win his first European Tour title, Alfred Dunhill Championship, where he defeated the seasoned Charl Schwartzel by one stroke.
Quiros kept his winning streak on the roll, clinching at least one title every year until he stepped into the current season to start one of his most spectacular performances on the tour so far.
He won the Dubai Desert Classic in February where he defeated the grizzled duo of Anders Hansen and James Kingston by one stroke.
He closed the season with another splendid victory at the Dubai World Championship in December to finish ranked number six on the Order of Merit.
Quiros is known for the longest drives on the tour and remained one of the longest hitters in the years 2006, 2007 and 2008, with average drives off the tee ranging up to a colossal 310 yards.
In his 23 appearances on the European Tour events this year, he failed to make the halfway cut in just five of them and posted five top-ten finishes.
The Spaniard earned a total of € 2,259,242 for his participation on the European Tour events with a scoring average of 71.01.
The young Spaniard will continue to thrive on his success this year and will be hoping to bag a major title alongside other possible victories on the tour in 2012.
